Rates
The motorway toll is the amount the user pays for the use of the motorway. The financial income derived from the toll constitutes the source of the revenue necessary for the concessionaire companies to finance the investments, operating and maintenance costs and improvement interventions of the motorway network. The criteria for the calculation of the tolls for the Italian motorway network are established by the specific regulations of the sector transposed into the existing agreements between the concessionaire company and the Granting Authority.
The motorway toll is determined by multiplying the number of kilometres travelled by the unit rate per kilometre of the Concessionaire, to which are added the surcharges and taxes provided by the current legislation.
The unit rate is commensurate with the type of vehicle used according to its volumetric dimensions.
From 1 January 2026, Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda applies toll rounding, up or down, to 10 euro cents.
Rounding up or down is performed automatically with no discretionary powers for Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda. It is regulated by Ministerial Decree no. 10440/28/133 of 12 November 2001 of the Ministry for Infrastructures and Transport and the Ministry for Economics and Finance.
The rounding up or down system establishes that if the toll due is a final figure of under 5 euro cents, the toll paid by the user is rounded down to the 10 euro cents below; if the final figure is equal to or higher than 5 euro cents, the toll paid by the user is rounded up to the higher 10 euro cents.
Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda determines the vehicle classes on a volumetric basis.
The classes provided:
- Class 1 - Light - Motorbikes and automobiles
- Class 2 - Heavy - Automobiles with trailers, small vans
- Class 3 - Heavy - Vans, Lorries and Coaches
- Class 4 - Heavy - HGV and Class 3 vehicles with trailer

The unit rate takes into account costs of construction, management and maintenance of the motorway sections.

For all motorway sections under concession, the plain unit rate applies.
Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda provides toll collection services for transits under the responsibility of Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI), specifically on the interconnection ramps between the Tang. Como (A59) and the A9 motorway. These transits are subject to both flatland and mountain unit toll rates.
Vehicles are classified according to the “Axle-Profile System,” which includes five classes: two for two-axle vehicles and three for vehicles or convoys with three or more axles.
