Roadworks and Traffic Standstill Refund
How does it work?
The Roadworks and Standstill Traffic Refund Service allows users to obtain a full or partial refund of the toll paid in the event of delays or traffic disruptions caused by non-emergency roadworks or standstill traffic on the A36, A59 and A60 motorway sections.
The service is available for journeys made from 1 June 2026 onwards on the motorway sections operated by Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda, in accordance with Resolution No. 211/2025 of the Transport Regulation Authority ('ART').
No refund shall be due in respect of mobile roadworks until 31 December 2027.
How is it calculated?
Roadworks and traffic standstill may cause inconvenience to users. The refund is paid where there is a limitation on the use of the infrastructure, and is calculated in proportion to any delay accrued, measured as the difference between the estimated average travel time and the actual travel time, at the speed permitted for each vehicle (light or heavy).
How do I obtain it?
It is available only to users registered with the service: you must register on the website (or via the App, or at the Punto Verde – the on-site customer service point) by selecting the Roadworks and Traffic Standstill Refund option and following the instructions. For users registered with a number plate and electronic toll device, the refund is calculated and paid automatically.

When am I entitled to a toll refund?
You are entitled to a refund when, during a journey on the Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda network, traffic restrictions occur due to:
- non-emergency roadworks (i.e. worksites not installed as a result of accidents, extraordinary and unforeseeable weather or hydrogeological events, rescue operations or restoration activities);
- standstill traffic lasting at least 60 minutes.
The amount of the refund is calculated on the basis of the actual inconvenience suffered and may be either partial or full.
To verify whether the conditions for obtaining a refund are met and to receive further information, users may also contact the Customer Care service of Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda, visit the 'General Information' section accessible from the homepage of the website www.pedemontana.com, consult the Service Charter, or visit the Punto Verde customer service centre in Mozzate (near the A36 junction).
No refund shall be due in respect of mobile roadworks until 31 December 2027.
How is the refund calculated?
The refund calculation methods are established by Transport Regulation Authority ('ART') Resolution No. 211/2025, Measures 8-bis.1 and 8-bis.8, and vary according to the type of restriction affecting the motorway journey undertaken:
- where one or more non-emergency roadworks are present, the toll refund is calculated taking into account:
- the specific characteristics of the roadworks configuration;
- the estimated time deviation, determined for each elementary section as the difference between the actual average travel time and the travel time at the reference speed applicable to the relevant vehicle category (light/heavy vehicle);
- in the event of standstill traffic, the user is entitled to a refund equal to at least:
- 50% in the event of standstill traffic lasting between 60 and 119 minutes;
- 75% in the event of standstill traffic lasting between 120 and 179 minutes;
- 100% in the event of standstill traffic lasting 180 minutes or more.
